California residents reviewing a simple statutory will.
People who want to name beneficiaries, an executor and a proposed guardian for minor children.
People who want to read the statutory instructions and consult an attorney about suitability.
What you'll need
Your full legal name and the names of your chosen beneficiaries.
Names for your executor, guardian and custodian choices, where applicable.
Two adult witnesses who should not receive assets under the will; we can arrange them for a fee quoted by phone.
How to complete it
Read the instruction cover and the entire statutory will. Fill in the blanks only; do not add, change or cross out its wording.
Complete the applicable fields in a PDF app, save a copy and check it before printing. Follow the packet's directions for signing each choice box.
Arrange two adult witnesses and follow the packet's signing instructions. Sign with both witnesses present; they must sign in your presence and each other's presence. Notarization alone is not sufficient.
Store the signed original safely and tell your executor where it is. Ask a licensed California attorney about complex estates, trusts or changes to an existing will.
