Planning an appointment in California
In the Sacramento region we know the ground well. Elsewhere in California, from the Bay Area to Southern California and the Central Valley, we work with local notaries and confirm availability before scheduling. Traffic in Los Angeles and the Bay Area can make timing very sensitive to the hour of day.
For Sacramento-area clients we can also talk through local apostille drop-off and pickup. Free forms are available for California, Nevada, New York, Florida and Texas; use the collection for the state where your document will be used.

California signing rules and mobile appointment costs
A California-commissioned notary meets the signer in person for the service offered here. Bring the final document and tell us which ID you have. Some listed California identification documents can qualify if current or issued within five years; the notary checks the document and applicable statutory conditions.
California generally caps an acknowledgment at $15 per signature and an oath or affirmation with a jurat at $15 per person. Exemptions apply to certain transactions. A mobile appointment also has a separately quoted travel charge; the statutory notarial fee is not an all-in visit price.
For an advance health care directive signed by a skilled nursing facility patient, a designated patient advocate or ombudsman must witness the directive even if it is notarized. Arrange the required participant with the facility before booking. A paid witness does not automatically satisfy this special requirement.
California apostilles are issued by the Secretary of State. Routine in-person processing locations are Sacramento and Los Angeles; mail requests go through Sacramento. Preparation, government processing and our service quote are separate from a notary visit. Check current state instructions for your document before mailing it.

California appointment questions
Is the $15 notarial fee the full price of a mobile visit?
No. The statutory maximum applies to the notarial act, with applicable exemptions. Travel and any additional agreed services are quoted separately. Confirm the complete quote and signing address before booking.
Can every hospital or care-home signing use ordinary witnesses?
No. The document and setting matter. A skilled nursing facility patient's advance health care directive has a special patient advocate or ombudsman witness rule. Tell us the document type and facility setting so the required arrangements can be checked.
